My Granny is on the Internet

Back in the early 2000s when dial-up was the only option in a small West Texas town, my retired school teacher Granny gave up on the Internet and consequently computers in general.  Everyone in our family has harassed her for years to make friends with the computer but she has stubbornly refused until this past Christmas when she received a (gasp) iPad.  She now has a genuine email address, an Internet connection that is decidely NOT dial-up, and knows how to get to my blog, so Granny these pictures are for you.

This is the gorgeous quilt that Granny made for Kam.  It's bright and colorful with fun dinosaurs!  

I love his sock monkey hat.  But I can barely squeeze it over his head now (sniff, sniff).

Happy days on his dino quilt!  He can turn onto his side and when placed on his side, he's working on turning over.  When he does "tummy time", he tries to get his knees under him and go somewhere.  Lots of movement from my big kicker.

Friday: Spa Day

Fridays are wonderful at our house...besides the obvious fact that it's Friday, I have my little girl at home since her Pre-K class doesn't meet on Fridays.  That means we have no pressure to hurry up and get ready to get to school on time (our present defintion of on time is consistently 15 minutes late), which means we can lounge around a bit.  

The last several Fridays Devynn has been getting her fingernails and toenails polished, in fact it is becoming a Friday ritual. On the very first spa day, she grabbed Kam's boppy, a few old towels, and some polish and set up an area in my bathroom floor and asked me to come paint her nails.

I was happy to beautify her nails and toenails.  Fast forward a couple of Fridays and could this get any better?  

She's in my bed with Bear, watching cartoons, wearing her favorite pony shirt, she got to do her own hair and now I'm about to paint her nails.

Plus, she's got the electric blanket turned to eight.

And just like that she has glitter nails...

And she's intently watching Jake and the Never Land Pirates while they dry.

Fridays are wonderful.

I sure am going to miss our Fridays together when she starts kindergarten this year.  I can't believe my baby girl is about to turn five!

The Bear Sleeper: Who Dat?

Just thought this would be fun...

I get comments every single day that Kam looks just.like.Devynn.  Strangers tell me that, friends (old and new) tell me that, family tells me that.

So...

I have a gender neutral (it's cream) bear sleeper that was Devynn's when she was a baby.  I have a picture of her dressed in it so I thought it would be fun to put Kam in the same sleeper and take a picture!

So, which one is Devynn and which is Kam?!

(I converted these to black and white to focus on their features and not the distracting colors and backgrounds.)

Do they really look that much alike?

My Little Skunk

The weather has been so dreamy; mild and springish, so this weekend we took Kam on his first little outdoors walk near our home.  He loved his stroller ride, complete with his mommy and daddy, brother and sister.  He even loved his little skunk hat that kept him warm and cute!

Hello world!

This past week baby skunk has done great with his sleeping.  He is getting in about 6 hours straight, waking to eat, and then sleeping another 3-4 hours.  Yea!  Ryan teases me about putting him to bed in his "straight jacket" but I swear it works: he can't swing his arms all around and wake himself up!

Check out the sweet hands, notice that his "straight jacket" (street name SwaddleMe) keeps his hands down low by his side, instead of up by his face.

 

In other news, I'm working on getting rid of bad dog Andy Grandi.  Yep, he's terrible right now...he's not getting nearly enough attention and he's full of negative energy.  I met with a fellow Dal owner today to see if she wanted to take him to be her girl's boyfriend.  Turns out her girl is a really good judge of character because she HATED Andy and she made no apologies for letting him know that.  Oh Andy, will I ever get rid of you?

I'm not holding my breath.
